Peter Rosenberger: An exceptional voice of experience—for an unprecedented need.
For more than thirty years, Peter Rosenberger has personally traveled the path of the family caregiver. Through this journey, Peter’s discovered a caregiver cannot only survive, but thrive in oftentimes grim circumstances.

In an unparalleled journey with his wife Gracie, Peter has navigated a medical nightmare that has mushroomed to 80 major operations—including the amputation of both of Gracie’s legs below the knee. These difficult experiences led Peter to work with more than 80 treating physicians in 12 hospitals, and 7 medical insurance companies, and medical bills soaring to more than $10 million. All these circumstances resulted in Peter developing a firm grasp of the healthcare issues faced by families with disabilities.

HOPE FOR THE CAREGIVER
Based upon the title of his popular book, HOPE FOR THE CAREGIVER, Peter’s radio show is heard weekly on more than 200 stations.

When Words Fail, Music Speaks. – Hans Christian Andersen
Caregiver Self-Defense
An avid participant in martial arts, Peter recently earned a 2nd degree black-belt in Hap-kido. When speaking at events, Peter often draws upon self-defense techniques to help caregivers better understand how to defend themselves. In addition, he refers to the principles of those techniques to help caregivers with emotional self-defense.
“I recently asked a room full of nurses, ‘How many of you have ever been grabbed by a patient?’
Astonishingly, 100 % of the audience raised their hands.
I then asked, ‘How many of you have been choked by a patient?’
Nearly 100% of the audience raised their hands!”
So many caregivers are women taking care of much larger husbands. Learning how to free themselves of an impaired loved one becomes a necessity, and Peter often demonstrates easy ways for them to do so without hurting themselves or loved one.
Likewise, the same principle applies when dealing with the criticisms and verbal conflicts that arise in caregiving situations.
“All too many caregivers suffer from low self-esteem. How you can defend yourself if you don’t value yourself?”
Peter provides proven tips and wisdom on caregivers can safely navigate through those challenging emotional and verbal circumstances. Furthermore, he is on a mission to strengthen the self-esteem of fellow caregivers in order for them to live a calmer, healthier, and even more joyful life.
